The Truth About Black Love | NewlyWeds

What would this month be without also celebrating black love? We decided to get nosey and ask some of our favorite couples some questions. If you’ve ever had the urge to ask the newly engaged, just married or your favorite “relationship goals” duo some questions then these posts are for you.

Meet James & Priscilla Mackey: Our Newlyweds ❤️

Question 1: What question are you tired of people asking you?

Answer: “When are we having kids..”

Question 2: How much did you spend on your wedding and was it worth it?

Answer: Our original wedding date was March 27th, 2020 (the very start of the NY COVID shutdown. At that point we had spent a little over $60K in our fully paid wedding.

After 3 COVID wedding postponements and a total of 4 wedding dates, we spent an additional 10K which brought our grand total to $70K.

Despite the wedding planning difficulties that the pandemic provide; my wife and I believe it was all definitely worth it. No regrets at all. We were able to persevere and truly enjoy the wedding of our dreams.

Question 3: How do you guys manage finances?

Answer: My wife has always been a phenomenal saver and student of making wise financial decisions. I myself happen to be a licensed/certified financial planner/advisor working for a financial firm in Long Island NY.

We both use the knowledge we have to make the best possible financial decision in efforts of building capital thru saving, budgeting, investing and not over spending. And most importantly we also use biblical financial principles to help guide us on our journey as well.

Question 4: What’s your love language?

Answer: My love language is Quality Time & Words of Affirmation

Question 5: How has life changed since you’ve been married?

Answer: So we were legally married on our original date in March 2022. So we have a marriage anniversary in March & a wedding Anniversary in October. This March marks 2 years of being married and it has been both a life changing & phenomenal experience.

Our friendship has grown even stronger, our faith/spiritual life has elevated & has grown even deeper & our partnership plans as a couple have expanded this year as well.

I’m looking forward to what we accomplish this year together.

Thank you James and Priscilla for inviting us into your world. We pray for more unapologetic and intentional love for the rest of your days.
